Hanover Public Schools Vision Statement Project 2/3/22

Hanover H

For nearly two years, our community and nation have been challenged by a pandemic that has put many aspects of our lives on pause.  COVID-19 has affected our educational systems, our economy, and it has caused division in our society that requires time to heal.  However, our school community remains strong and resolute that our best days are ahead of us.

As the impact of COVID-19 recedes, we have a chance to look ahead with optimism.  We can leverage the resilience gained from the past two years to focus our path forward.  To support this goal, we have established a small and enthusiastic team of teachers, administrators, and community members to look to the future and to facilitate the creation of a true vision statement for Hanover Public Schools.

A meaningful vision statement inspires an organization to look to the future with hope and purpose.  It is a navigational tool that supports a strategy and a set of values that charts a course forward for all involved.  A memorable statement should be concise, highly ambitious, and it must be enduring.  A bold and worthwhile vision requires adaptation, innovation, and commitment over a long period of time.  Our vision statement will inspire, unify, and motivate the members of the HPS community and serve as our North Star for the continuous improvement of all that we strive to accomplish in the decades ahead.

We have been asked, why are you doing this now?  It is an excellent question, and we understand that there are countless priorities and challenges competing for our attention.  However, it is important that while we recover and move forward, we need to find a common focus and an ambitious vision of HPS for our students now and in the future to align our goals and strategic plans.  I am grateful for the commitment of the Vision Statement Team, and for your participation in this important endeavor.

We gratefully invite you to complete our Vision Statement Survey to help support this work and to lend your voice to the process.  If you prefer to complete a paper version of the survey, you can request a copy at any school office (in English and any other language).  We encourage and welcome you to join a future community feedback forum that will be scheduled for early spring to provide feedback on the first draft of our vision statement.

Thank you in advance for your participation, and all that you do to help support Hanover Public Schools.

Sincerely,

Matt Ferron and the Vision Statement Team:
