Earlier this summer, our office of Family and Community Engagement conducted a college application workshop for a group of in-coming seniors.   It was an absolute success.  The kids, teachers, and counselors seemed to love it!  They reviewed the common application. They collaborated over colleges. They worked on résumées, essays, and interview skills.  The workshop brought to light just how much goes into the application process – the financial, emotional, personal, and familial investments are astounding.

The college application process can be an arduous task for all involved, yet unique to each individual experiencing it.  I reached out to seven students from that summer workshop, and I captured – through podcast – some of their thoughts and feelings pertaining to this process.  I found it fascinating.  They found it fascinating.  Our fascination has since gotten the best of us, and what began as a single podcast has now expanded into five fascinating episodes exploring the college process as told by the students themselves.

We’ve completed five, but we are planning five more.  The conversations are too fun, and the experiences too common – yet unique, not to put into a larger, podcasted program.  We call it Destination Graduation.
