Parent Workshop: Supporting Children after a Community Loss

I am writing to invite you for an evening of support and conversation in partnership with the Weymouth Public Schools as our communities continue to heal together.

Please join us on Wednesday, August 22nd for a workshop on “Supporting Children after a Community Loss”.  This event will be hosted by Maureen Patterson-Fede from the Good Grief Program, and Neena McConnico from the Child Witness to Violence Project, both from Boston Medical Center.  They will share information on how grief, loss, and difficult events can impact children and families and provide strategies to help us with the healing process.  The workshop will be held at the John Curtis Free Library in Hanover from 6:00pm - 8:00pm.  This workshop is intended for parents, caregivers, staff and community members.  For more information, please see the attached flyer.  We are very grateful for the other community partners who continue to reach out offering support and who are involved in the planning of this workshop.

As we all enjoy the remaining weeks of our summer vacation, please continue to keep the Chesna family and Weymouth Police Department in your thoughts and prayers.

Respectfully,

Matt Ferron
Superintendent of Schools
