School Department Budget Forum, January 29, 2024

Hanover H

The Hanover Public Schools invites you to attend the Hanover Public Schools FY25 Budget Forum on Monday, January 29, 2024, at 6:00 pm. The meeting will take place in person at the Hanover High School in the Media Center and virtually via Zoom. There will be time for public comments and questions during the meeting.

Discussions surrounding the FY25 school budget continue to address a number of challenges facing our schools, students, and families including the increase in student services needs, the loss of state and federal COVID-19 funds, rising transportation costs, staffing and workforce shortages, and inflation - all of which affect our ability to adequately fund our schools.

With this in mind, the School Committee has continued to evaluate the funding level required to maintain services, address the current service needs of our students, and plan for future years. The School Committee will be discussing and voting on a FY25 budget for next school year to submit to the Town Manager at the Monday meeting. Current priorities being discussed include the maintenance of current services, a minimal increase in staffing designed to meet current needs of our students, and a reduction in the full-day kindergarten tuition cost for families.

We look forward to seeing you Monday evening to answer your questions and earn your support as we discuss and vote on a budget to present to the Town.

Have a nice weekend,

Kristen Cervantes, School Committee Chairperson
Matt Ferron, Superintendent
