Welcome Back Students and Families! 9/1/22

Hanover H

On behalf of our entire staff, I would like to extend a warm and enthusiastic welcome back to another exciting year at Hanover Public Schools. We are looking forward to a great year ahead - and it all starts on Tuesday, September 5, 2023! Until then, we wish you all a safe and relaxing Labor Day weekend.

Our teachers and staff have been working hard the past few weeks to prepare their classrooms for our students to arrive. They look terrific! Our custodians, DPW, and Facilities staff are working right up to the wire to ensure that the schools are clean, safe, and in great shape to open. The major construction projects of the summer are on time. The water main at Hanover Middle School has been replaced and the driveway and sidewalks have been replaced and paved. The Hanover High School turf field and track project is on target to reopen the facility later in September. We will continue to update the community as this project approaches completion. The security and vestibule improvements, along with sidewalk and landscaping work, at Cedar School are complete.

During September and October, our students and staff will have age-appropriate safety/security training sessions at each school. Principals will be sharing dates and plans with families in advance so that everyone is well-informed about the process. None of us want to do this work, but we are committed to keeping our schools as safe and prepared as possible. Don’t hesitate to reach out to your child’s principal if you have questions - we are here to support everyone in this work. We have an exceptional partnership with the Hanover Police and Fire Departments, and I know with certainty that they are well trained and prepared to courageously support us without hesitation at a moment’s notice.

At this time of hope and new beginnings, we encourage all of our students and families to be involved in everything HPS has to offer. Please encourage your children to participate in enrichment and recreational programs, athletics, extracurricular activities and clubs, and the arts. Watch your email and our website for announcements on upcoming school and community events. If your child needs any support or encouragement to get involved, please reach out to their school and we are happy to help.

We have countless incredible offerings for students of all interests and abilities. Now is the perfect time for all students to re-engage and get more involved for their physical and emotional wellness. Families, please join us at sporting events, concerts, plays, school events, and community activities. Our schools are a source of pride for our community, and we want you to be part of it.

We look forward to seeing all of our students next week where Hanover Hawks soar and succeed without limits!

Sincerely,

Matt Ferron
Superintendent
