Winter Weather Update 3/13/23

Hanover H

As you likely know by now, a winter storm is arriving overnight tonight and continuing into Wednesday. At this time, we are planning to operate on our normal schedule tomorrow (Tuesday, March 14, 2023). The current forecast indicates a high degree of probability that there will be strong wind gusts and heavy rain with snow most likely arriving during the afternoon tomorrow, and we will monitor these conditions as they develop.

Earlier this afternoon, we met with the Hanover Emergency Response Team which includes the DPW, Hanover Police, and Hanover Fire. We joined a call with the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) to assist us in planning for the next few days. There is still variability in the forecast regarding the arrival time of any snow, along with the duration and possible accumulation of snow starting tomorrow afternoon. The most significant concern at this time is wind and power loss, and we will stay in contact with National Grid as necessary.

If a significant change to the forecast occurs, we will communicate any adjustments to this plan with everyone as early as possible. This is a developing situation that will require patience and caution from everyone. Please review our winter weather protocols for more information on how these plans are made.

We will stay in contact with our Town Emergency Response Team and MEMA to adjust our plans as necessary. It is too early to make any predictions for our Wednesday schedule, but we will share more information tomorrow as this situation develops.

Thank you for your patience, and please have a pleasant and safe evening.

Sincerely,

Matt Ferron
Superintendent
