More about Sustainable Hanover

Education is the core of all our sustainability initiatives. Sustainability is a community vision. It is not an objective that can simply be completed and forgotten. It must evolve and grow into a community mindset and culture. By sharing information about benefits of sustainability practices, people see how these efforts impact their daily lives and why they are worth continuing.

We support educational programs, initiate and implement projects, including sustainable healthy air, water, land, homes, businesses, public buildings, clean energy and healthy people.

Who are we?

We are a group of environmentally aware individuals interested in maintaining the ecological health of Hanover through educational programs and campaigns. Sustainable Hanover strives to educate and to promote community sustainability programs.

The group began in 2008. We currently work with 18 other South Shore towns as part of Sustainable South Shore- a Chapter of MCAN -Mass Climate Action Network. Our combined voices make a difference in preserving our Ecosystem. We participate in local events the Hanover Mall's Earth Day Festival, the South Shore Natural Science Center's Earth Day program, the YMCA's Eco-Friendly Family Fun Day, and Hanover Day. We plan to host nature walks, recycling events, and educational programs in the future. Volunteers are encouraged to share their ideas, talents, time and skills.
