Staying Home from School
Your child should stay home from school when
- When your child has a contagious illness such as COVID-19, strep throat, flu, conjunctivitis, noro-like viruses (stomach bug), or chicken pox.
- When your child has had a fever of 100.0 F or above within the past 24 hours
- When your child has red/pink eyes or drainage from the eyes.
- When your child has had vomiting or diarrhea within the past 24 hours
- When your child is unable to manage his/her secretions
- When your child has head lice or nits (in this case the child must be seen by the school nurse before returning to school).
- If your child is not feeling well enough to participate in the school day
- If your child has any symptoms of COVID-19
- Fever
- Cough/Shortness of Breath
- Vomiting/Diarrhea
- New loss of Taste or Smell
- Headache
- Body Aches
- Nasal congestion with other symptoms
- Fatigue along with other symptoms
School policies/procedures regarding staying home from school
- Please notify the school nurse if your child is out of school for an extended period of time and/or under the care of a physician.
- A note is required each time a student is absent.
- A physician's certificate is required for absences of five (5) or more days.
- Written notifications from the physician and parent/guardian are required when it is necessary to excuse a child from physical education. Such notification should clearly detail restrictions and identify the date when participation in the physical education program may resume.
- Immunizations and physical examinations must be in compliance and up to date with state regulations.
