March 2023

During March, we, as the Policy Committee, will officially share Sections E, F, G, H, I, K, and L of the Hanover Public Schools Policy Manual. These policies have been reviewed extensively by the Policy Committee and relevant internal experts for updates based on Massachusetts law and common best practices. Each policy will be presented twice. Once for the first reading and then again two weeks later for the second reading, when a vote to "accept in form" will be taken by the School Committee.

Since we began this work in early October, we have encouraged community members to submit feedback using our feedback form or by emailing members of the Committee. Please submit your feedback at any time before the Committee takes the vote. The dates of votes will be listed on the School Committee agendas for each meeting. We take pride as this process has been one of collaboration among community members, teachers, administrators, and members of the School Committee. We sincerely appreciate your support with this important project.

The last four policies will be posted in April, and votes to “accept in form” will be taken during the April and early May School Committee meetings.

During the summer, the Policy Board of the Massachusetts Association of School Committees will edit, finalize, and date the approximately 257 Policies for the Hanover School District. At a School Committee meeting in the fall, the final document will be presented to the Committee for acceptance.
